Day 6

This is a continuation of the old man from yesterday. Instead of the fluid, one line, I decided to change it up with a more Cubist approach. Harsh lines and implied shapes help depict this man. I don't really find either one of these series of Old Man very appealing but both encapture the essence that is this, strange, but happy old man that fills the bench by Tops.

  1. Keep on keeping on. Doing takes doing. You eye guides you pen/pencil. Your pen guides your eye. I appreciate the project you are tackling. It can be tough. Years ago I bought a new sketchbook and this time gave myself 3 rules: 1. Put down in words or images ANYTHING I wanted. From grocery list to quick sketch of the bartender at the other end of the bar. 2. Do not (EVER) tear a page out. 3. Do not get a new sketchbook until I finished this one.

It worked. Over a long life I have completed many of them. 20 or so were turned over to Special Collections of the University Library here. (They had been after me for years.) I have probably 20 more ready to give. And now I'm posting on my blog.

You are a drawer. A commentator. I like what you do.

  3. Sorry to see you never completed this. Maybe make another blog and start over, or continue where you left off with this one. Good luck either way!
